Mercedes-Benz isn’t slowing down in creating all-new versions of its fleet. This here’s the all-new (sixth-generation) Mercedes SL.
The engine lineup includes longitudinal V6 and V8 engines that drive the rear wheels. The 3.5L V6 delivers 320 hp and the 4.7L V8 dishes out 429 hp which are good for 0-100 kph times 5.9 seconds and 4.6 seconds, respectively.
As a roadster, the SL features a metal-folding roof that takes 20 seconds to put up or down. The downside is that the cubby hole for the roof limits the SL as a strict two-seater.
To save on weight, the car uses an almost-exclusive aluminum construction trimming down the car’s weight by at least 135 kilos compared to the old steel SL. The exterior styling has also been updated to make it more aerodynamic and reduce wind noise inside the cabin.
