Haven’t really written anything new which led me to a sad period of introspection whether or not I’ve gotten sick and tired of cars.
I’m nearly finished paying off my two-year old subcompact and, after a good two years of being bullied hopelessly on Metro roads, I’m seriously considering getting a much bigger car (a CUV or an SUV) just to whet my small man complex. That and allaying the paranoia and fear of wading through flood water in a small car.
And back to cars. Plenty of new stuff on the streets today. Just a couple of months ago, I saw the Toyota GT-86 being showcased at Eastwood with all the promo girls and whatnot. I’ve been raving about the GT-86 for a long time and now that it’s actually here on Philippine soil, I sort of felt that my fanfare was more due to novelty that admiration for the machine.
Hyundai’s making a killing with the Accent, Elantra, Sonata, and even the new little EON thanks to the aggressive/pogi styling but having lived with a Hyundai made me reconsider going back to a Japanese for my next purchase. Still, I’m not too hot about that.
So maybe getting bullied on the road and the boredom that is Metro motoring has prompted me to take a hiatus from writing anything auto for the past five months. That and probably not seeing Top Gear for a long time now.
