Metro Manila Traffic

The MMDA advised the public to brace for what could be the heaviest traffic of the year tomorrow, December 19. MMDA Chair Francis Tolentino cautioned that the holiday rush is bound to make traffic flow heavy especially in the vicinity of shopping malls.

And to think that tomorrow isn’t even a payday. I’ve been going around the metro for the past three days and traffic has really gone from bad to worse . EDSA and C5 are both choked even after the morning rush hour and I’ve observed no respite in both directions.

MMDA claims that vehicular volume increases by as much as 20% during the months of November and December.

At MMDA’s request, shopping malls have already pushed their operating hours from previously opening at 10 AM to 11 AM (to close at 11 PM from 10 PM) so that their opening and closing would not coincide with the workday rush hour.

So when people advise you to avoid the holiday rush, it does make sense to do so. If you have the chance, don’t even venture outside and wait for the holidays to just blow over.
