After an 11-year gap, the Honda NSX finally comes back with a new model. Check out the 2nd-generation NSX.
First announced in 2007, the new NSX was teased in the form of various concepts like the V10 ASSC and the HSV-010 GT that raced in the Japanese SuperGT. It was only in 2015 that the production model was showcased in the 2015 NAIAS.
Many of us though that Honda’s quest to be the greenest automaker will spell an end to its sporty variants but thanks to developments in hybrid technology, it’s still possible to mate electric motors and gasoline engines to great effect.
The new NSX boasts of a 500 bhp 3.5L twin-turbo V6 that comes with three electric motors. All three motors plus the gas burner are part of an AWD powertrain that includes a 9-speed dual-clutch semi-automatic. Combined, all motors produce 573 bhp.
You’d wonder if Honda is preying on the nostalgia market as the first-gen NSX was a beloved staple in many racing video games enjoyed by the generation that can actually start buying sports cars today.
The car comes with a standard price tag of $156,000 (PhP 7.8M by exchange rate) but can go all the way up to $200,000 given options.
The first generation ran from 1990 to 2005, marketed in the US under the Acura brand.
