Last night, it took us more than three hours to drive from Taguig to Antipolo. The reason? The entire length of Marcos Highway crawled at snail’s pace due to a vehicular collision along Marcos Highway near Masinag.
A ten-wheeler truck crashed into a Mitsubishi L300 van, a Toyota Corolla, a Mitsubishi Lancer and an Mitsubishi Montero before ultimately plowing into an establishment at around 3:15 PM of March 14. 10 people were reported to be hurt in the incident.
Being the main thoroughfare that services Marikina, Cainta, Pasig, and Antipolo (which are mostly residential areas), any impediment to traffic flow along Marcos Highway can extend traffic to C5, Katipunan, Ortigas, and Aurora. The current situation is compounded by the LRT extension construction that occupies at least one lane each direction.
Buzz on social media claims that the truck reportedly lost brakes – a typical but unforgivable excuse by many truck drivers and operators when trucks figure into collisions. Oftentimes, it’s poor maintenance of vehicles and lack of proper driver training and discipline are to blame.
It was only reportedly cleared at around 5:00 AM today.
