Good news for everyone looking for alternatives to the very pricey airport taxi services – GrabCar is now allowed to operate in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport starting March 14.
GrabCar vehicles can now drop you off and pick you up within the NAIA terminals. Grab will be deploying personel to man booths in designated areas within NAIA to help Grab users. The best part about this is that GrabCar will only be charging the same rate of PhP 30 base fare and PhP 12 for every succeeding kilometer. Keep in mind that it’s only GrabCar that’s allowed and not GrabTaxi.
One of the worst things about NAIA is your transportation options to and from the airport. Regular taxis will try to charge you an arm, a leg, and your occasional unborn child on top of the metered fare while airport taxis can, by their default meter charging, bleed you thrice as much. And not to mention the snaking queues that you have to endure to wait for airport taxis. Having GrabCar with their usual rates will surely be a welcome alternative.
It’s interesting that it’s only Grab that’s announced to be allowed for now. Uber has yet to operate though we might get the announcement some time in the future when Uber completes their accreditation.
