It’s the New York International Auto Show and we’ve tracking the big reveals. Teased last week, we finally get a good look at the 2017 Subaru Impreza in all its glory.
The new Impreza gets the new Global Platform Subaru was hyping prior to the reveal. Its wheelbase has been made longer by 25mm over the previous model. It is also now longer by 41mm and wider by 38mm. It sits 10mm lower for added sportiness.
The body is more rigid than the old car which, we take to mean that the car will be able to handle more nimble turning and cornering.
The car is powered by 2.0L boxer engines (gas and diesel) that will be updated with cylinder deactivation technology for better fuel economy. As always, the Impreza will have four-wheel drive as standard across the board.
Aside from the visual and engineering tweaks, the car will also feature the “EyeSight” camera system that monitors for road and traffic hazards.
Now, we’re all waiting for the WRX STi version which is rumored to be a performance hybrid.
