Looks like the situation hasn’t gone well that fast for Japanese automakers. While demand for cars has gone up worldwide, the recent Japanese earthquake-tsunami-nuke disaster combo has stalled its automakers to keep up with production.
Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (the Japanese automaker’s local entity) has cautioned its dealerships that supply might come few and plenty in between given the Japan situation. Its target of selling 17,600 units for 2011 might not be met. As a consequence, forecasts and targets might have to be revised.
Automotive sales have been on the upswing lately with many automakers posting growths from the previous year and for the previous quarter. However, if supply becomes and issue, it can be an opportunity for other automakers to pick up the slack for the Japanese marquees.
