We’re really quite excited every time there’s news about compact crossovers. They seem to be perfect for metro roads – tall enough to give you some peace of mind to wade gutter-deep floods and short enough to navigate and park in our narrow roads.
The Ford EcoSport and Nissan Juke remain to be the top contenders locally though the Honda BR-V and the upcoming Mazda CX-3 may finally give the segment some much-needed shake up.
Jeep is actually considering a model to slot in below the Jeep Renegade (pictured) and compete with the likes of the EcoSport and the Juke. No word yet on specs but it will be built in India and is code named the “526.”
It will be quite interesting to see if this will ever come to our shores and if it will even be priced competitively with its rivals especially here in the Philippines.
The most affordable still is the EcoSport with its base variant coming in competitively against compact sedans with the BR-V and CX-3 priced north of a million.
Jeep only has 4 dealerships in the Philippines – 3 in Metro Manila and 1 in Cebu.
