Remember when back in nineties when Hyundai was characterized by the Starex and Kia was embodied by the Pride? Not anymore. Our roads are filled with Hyundai and Kia cars, and they’re not particularly pedestrian at that. The new Hundais, the Sonata and the Accent are great-looking cars, too.
And it seems that the trend’s similar elsewhere, in the United States in particular. TrueCar.com projects that the Korean siste companies Hyundai and Kia are poised to outsell Japanese giants Toyota and Hyundai in May. The car website projects the Koreans to sell 115,434 units this month – an increase of nearly 44% from last year.
That would propel the Hyundai group to leapfrog Ford Motors into number 3 behind General Motors. Well, to be fair to the Japs, Toyota and Honda are both having some massive problems no thanks to the earthquake/tsunami/nuclear plant triple-whammy.
It’s all just a matter of time for Hyundai, really. Hyundai’s really made a killing with their brilliant North America marketing strategy – offering incentives, free fuel and buy-back options during the height of the recession.
