It’s still a long way to go but at least Ferrari and Fernando Alonso has put their proverbial foot down and take the battle to Red Bull and the runaway leader Sebastien Vettel with a win at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Alonso managed to pip Vettel after a pit stop and stayed in the lead with a winning pace. Vettel was left to edge out teammate Mark Webber for another Red Bull podium finish round up.

The British boys of McLaren haven’t really been contending this season. Lewis Hamilton manage a fourth place finish, holding off Ferrari’s Felipe Massa with a stunning duel in the last-lap reminiscent of their duel for the championship three seasons ago.

Jenson Button was force to retire thanks to a pit-stop blunder after setting off without a wheel nut on his right front wheel.  McLaren was fined after the race for the error.

For those still interested in how the legendary Michael Schumacher is still faring while driving for Mercedes, well, he managed to get a couple of points after finishing ninth while teammate Nico Rosberg edged him finishing sixth.
